Location

We are a 15 minute walk for the city centre - 10 minute walk or a short taxi ride for the station and within walking distance of York Racecourse. Local buses pass the Hotel every 10 minutes to the city centre.

Directions by Road

The A59 comes straight into York and becomes the Poppleton Road. Travel along this road past the new housing development on your left until you come to a set of traffic lights. You will also see the Fox pub on your left. Travel straight on – the road now becomes Holgate Road. Bishops Hotel is 250 Meters up the hill on the right hand side.

North

When travelling from the North, use the A1. Come off at junction 47 onto the A59 York–Holgate Road and follow instructions under 'Directions by Road' above.

South

When travelling from the south, you will use the M1 or the A1. The M1 now comes around Leeds and joins the A1 South of York. Come off the A1M at Junction 45 onto the A64 York–Leeds Road. Come off the A64 at the A1237 York bypass and follow this road until you come to the York–Harrogate A59 roundabout and follow the instructions under 'Directions by Road' above.

West

Coming from Manchester and the West, use the M64. Look for the signs for York and the M1–A1 North and come off the A1M at Junction 45 – the A64 Leeds–York road. Come off the A64 at A1237 York bypass and follow the instructions under 'Directions by Road' above.

Lake District

Travelling from the Lake District, take the A65 to Skipton. Join the A59 and come straight into York and follow the instructions under 'Directions by Road' above.

North Sea Ferries And Hull

Travelling from Hull and the North Sea Ferries, come in on the A1079 at the large Grimstone Bar Roundabout. Take the A64 North which forms part of the York bypass. Keep on the bypass until you come to the A59 York Harrogate road and follow the instructions under 'Directions by Road' above.
